Job summary

VERSANT Media in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced political editor to lead MS NOW Digital’s politics coverage and 2028 presidential campaign reporting. The editor will collaborate with the D.C. bureau and breaking news team, shaping coverage across platforms and driving original reporting in a fast-paced newsroom.

The role requires strong writing and editing skills, experience in politics, and the ability to work evenings and under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience.
• 8+ years working in a newsroom environment.
• 8+ years working in a strictly digital shop.
• Must be able to edit quickly and accurately.
• Must have experience working in breaking news and political news.
• Must have the desire to work in a creative, demanding and competitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify distinctive political storylines and drive scoops for MS NOW Digital.
• Coordinate with the D.C. bureau and breaking news teams to land timely journalism.
• Stay informed about the 2028 presidential campaign and track reporters, TV plans and coverage.
• Lead live blog coverage as needed.
• Collaborate across editorial and platform teams to optimize reader engagement.
• Work with platforms producers to keep the homepage updated and assist with headlines, push alerts, and newsletters.
