Groundswell Contact has partnered with Forward Montana to run a tribal voter contact program across Blackfeet and CSKT reservations in Montana. As a Canvasser, you’ll knock doors, talk with neighbors, and help eligible voters plan how to vote, working on a team led by an on-site Field Director. This W-2 hourly role offers flexible shifts, with weekly pay at $25–$27/hour and potential for $28/hour as Team Lead.

Start Date: Mid-to-late September 2026, ends November 3, 2026

Pay: $25–$27/hour, based on experience - Paid Weekly

Local hires only. We’re prioritizing hiring directly from the Blackfeet and Flathead/CSKT communities.

Growth opportunity: Strong canvassers may be considered for advancement to Team Lead (up to $28/hour) and beyond as the program develops.

About the Campaign

Groundswell Contact has partnered with Forward Montana, a non-profit civic engagement organization, to run a direct voter contact program across two distinct Native American communities in Montana’s 1st Congressional District: the Blackfeet Reservation and the CSKT/Flathead Reservation. We’re knocking doors and engaging at community sites to make sure residents know how, when, and where to vote — building toward a Get Out The Vote push as satellite voting locations open. The program will include both nonpartisan civic engagement and electoral voter-contact work.

About the Role

As a Canvasser, you’ll be the face of this program - knocking on doors, having real conversations with your neighbors, and helping make sure eligible voters in your community have a plan to vote. You’ll work on a team led by an on-site Field Director(s), powered by Groundswell Contact, a progressive firm known for equity-centered, high-impact field organizing. Canvassers are W-2 (hourly), at-will employees who will be hired, managed and directly employed by Groundswell Contact, LLC.

What You’ll Do

• Knock on assigned doors (turf) or engage residents at assigned public “hot-spot” areas as directed by your Team Lead, Canvass Director, or Lead Director
• Use a memorized, provided script to have face-to-face conversations with residents about voting
• Accurately record contact data, voting plan commitments, and survey responses using a simple mobile app (MiniVAN)
• Participate in daily team launches, training, and debriefs
• Represent the campaign and Forward Montana with positivity, professionalism, and respect for the community
• Abide by all state and federal voter contact and campaign finance laws

Requirements

• Personal Transportation Required: This is defined as: Having a valid drivers license, and access to a registered and insured motor-vehicle in line with state requirements for the length of each shift
• Smart-Phone with Data Plan Required: This is defined as a ‘smart phone’ with an IOS 16.6 or later, or an up-to-date android. Work on this project requires the use of two ‘apps’ on your personal cell phone throughout your shift.
• Ability to walk multiple blocks in assigned areas throughout each shift, prepared to manage working outside in the current local weather conditions. Shifts average 5-8hrs and operate rain, snow or shine
• Ability to stand for extended periods while engaging community members at doors or public locations
• Ability to access and knock on residential doors, including locations that may require walking up or down stairs, navigating uneven pathways, or approaching homes set back from the road
• Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions with appropriate breaks and safety protocols
• Ability to lift and carry up to 5-10 pounds of canvassing materials (clipboards, literature, water, personal supplies, etc.)
• Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must not have been convicted of a felony involving identity theft or campaign fraud
