Job summary

Advanced Energy United seeks a Policy Principal to shape political strategy for the DMEE team. The role engages governors, regulators, and policymakers to advance advanced energy policy and education efforts.

The ideal candidate has advocacy or policy campaign experience, strong project management skills, and the ability to build rapid relationships with decision-makers. This is a fully remote position with travel 1–2 times per quarter across the Midwest.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3–6 years of professional experience with elected officials.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-stakeholder programs and campaigns.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication with decision-makers.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, comfortable with remote work and ambiguity.
  • Interest in energy policy and Midwest policy priorities.
  • Travel approximately 1–2 times per quarter.

Responsibilities

  • Own political strategy for building relationships with decision-makers in Midwest states.
  • Develop communication strategies framing state energy outlooks for policymakers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, advocacy groups, coalitions and regulators.
  • Use project management tools to deliver on short- and long-term goals.
  • Maintain and organize information for program knowledge management.
  • Communicate campaign progress and metrics to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategy ideation to improve program efficacy.
