Job summary

The ACLU seeks a Legal Intern in the National Political Advocacy Department of the ACLU’s National office in Washington, DC. This internship is part-time and hybrid. Qualifying applicants must be matriculated undergraduate students or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and must be based in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Matriculated undergraduate students or equivalent education/experience
• Strong research, writing, analysis, and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and policy research on voting, civil rights, free speech, technology policy, or democracy reform
• Assist with researching legislation, officials, coalitions, and developments at state and federal levels
• Draft advocacy materials, memoranda, correspondence, and reports
• Support congressional outreach through briefings, meetings, and letters
