Job summary

Confidential in Washington, DC seeks a Professional Staff/Counsel to lead the Senate Committee's science and technology portfolio. You will develop policy proposals, conduct research, and draft legislative text while coordinating with agencies and stakeholders in a fast-paced, small-team setting.

The role requires strong policy understanding, excellent communication, and proactive problem-solving. Five years of relevant experience is strongly preferred, with a Pacific Northwest connection a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in federal policy or science policy preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead work on science and technology policy, including AI, quantum, biotechnology, and manufacturing.
• Develop legislative and policy proposals and draft memoranda, briefing materials, and legislation.
• Attend constituent and stakeholder meetings and prepare for hearings and markups.
