Powering Prosperity is seeking an exceptional early-career conservative leader to help build the next generation of state-based energy advocacy. The Policy & Campaigns Associate is designed as a leadership development role and will gain hands-on experience across policy development, legislative strategy, coalition building, communications, and organizational growth.

This remote role involves supporting state campaigns, advancing policy development, and traveling to priority states as needed.

Powering Prosperity is seeking an exceptional early-career conservative leader to help build the next generation of state-based energy advocacy.

The Policy & Campaigns Associate is intentionally designed as a leadership development role. Working directly with the Executive Director, Director of Policy, and Director of State Campaigns, this individual will gain hands-on experience across every aspect of building and winning state advocacy campaigns—from policy development and legislative strategy to coalition building, communications, political intelligence, and organizational growth.

This is an opportunity to help build one of the country's leading conservative energy organizations from the ground up while developing the skills necessary to lead major policy campaigns in the future.

The Associate will divide their time between supporting state campaign execution and advancing policy development, providing flexible capacity wherever the organization needs it most.

What You'll Do

State Campaigns

• Support the development and execution of legislative campaigns across Powering Prosperity's priority states.
• Research political landscapes, legislative developments, and stakeholder dynamics.
• Coordinate coalition meetings, lobbying days, policy briefings, and campaign activities.
• Develop background materials for legislators, governors, regulators, and coalition partners.
• Track campaign milestones, legislative progress, and political intelligence.
• Work alongside state consultants, lobbyists, communications teams, and coalition partners to keep campaigns moving forward.

Policy Development

• Research emerging energy technologies, electricity markets, and state policy innovations.
• Draft policy memos, legislative and regulatory summaries, issue briefs, white papers, and model legislation.
• Analyze legislation and regulatory proposals from around the country.
• Help maintain Powering Prosperity's growing library of model policies and research.
• Support the Director of Policy on national research initiatives and special projects.

Strategic Initiatives

• Partner with the Executive Director to prepare presentations, board materials, and funder updates.
• Support strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives.
• Jump into cross-functional projects wherever needed.
• Travel to priority states and events to support campaigns and strengthen relationships with policymakers and partners.

What We're Looking For

We're far more interested in hiring someone with outstanding political instincts, intellectual curiosity, and conservative credibility than someone who already knows every aspect of electricity policy.

The right candidate will have:

• 2–5 years of experience in public policy, politics, government affairs, advocacy, campaigns, legislative offices, think tanks, or public affairs, although we are more interested in exceptional talent and leadership potential than a specific number of years.
• A demonstrated commitment to conservative public policy and free-market principles.
• Outstanding writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working with elected officials, industry leaders, and coalition partners.
• A startup mentality and willingness to tackle whatever needs to get done.
• The ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort giving and receiving candid, constructive feedback in pursuit of continuous improvement.
• The ability to thrive in a largely, if not fully, remote environment

Previous energy experience is a plus—but not a requirement. We'd rather hire someone who understands conservative politics and is excited to learn energy than someone who understands energy but lacks political instincts.

Location:

• Remote - need to have reasonable access to an airport
• Preference for someone located in Washington D.C. or one of Powering Prosperity’s priority markets (IN, LA, OH, OK, UT)

Compensation:

• Salary range: $90,000–$140,000, commensurate with experience, with performance-based compensation growth over time.
