Job description

Company Description

Lemma is an innovative company backed by top Silicon Valley venture capital firms, including A16z and Eastlink Capital, alongside prominent industry angels such as Jeff Dean of Google and Arash Ferdowsi of Dropbox.

Lemma is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology to address the complexity of policies, regulations and statutes with precision and reliability. Our mission is to revolutionize policy and regulatory understanding by creating autonomous agents capable of capturing and adapting to nuanced and rapidly evolving policies. By providing benchmarks to ensure safety and capability in policy understanding, we are focused on driving customer success.

About the Role

We’re looking for sharp, curious policy analysts to join Lemma as part-time contractors. You’ll help us monitor policy developments across multiple domains, identify what matters, and communicate it clearly and quickly to our audience. This is a flexible, remote role ideal for someone who already lives and breathes policy and wants meaningful project-based work alongside their other commitments.

What You Are Good At

  • Track relevant legislation, regulatory actions, and policy news across one or more domains

  • Identify primary‑source data and authoritative reporting on emerging policy developments

  • Synthesize complex policy issues into concise, timely written updates

  • Flag developments that matter — and explain why they matter — to a non‑specialist audience

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • Strong general policy analysis skills: you know which bills to track, which news sources to watch, where to find reliable data, and how to communicate findings clearly and on a tight timeline

  • Deep knowledge in at least one policy domain — examples include (but are not limited to) frontier technology and AI, healthcare and Medicaid, trade and sanctions, financial regulation, energy, or labor

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, international studies, IR, public administration, law, or a related field

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities

  • Familiarity with AI systems, data management, or data visualization is a strong advantage

Preferred:

  • Prior experience at a respected industry association, think tank, policy consulting firm, government agency, or congressional office

  • Expertise across multiple policy domains

  • Experience producing newsletters, briefs, memos, or analyst notes for external audiences

What We Offer

  • Compensation: Project-based pay starting at $30/hour — above industry average

  • Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours — you choose when you work

  • Location: Fully remote

  • Visa: Open to candidates on OPT/CPT
