Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking Police Service Assistant to support police activities through clerical tasks and field duties. The role includes answering phones, typing, filing, PC work, and handling confidential documents.

Two full-time vacancies exist, one in Fiesta District and one in Downtown; a non-classified, at-will status may apply for part-time openings. Applicants must be 18+, possess a valid AZ Class D license, and pass a background check and substance testing.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver's License by hire or promotion date.
• Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
• Due to safety/sensitive nature, pre-employment or pre-placement alcohol, drug and/or controlled substance testing is required.
• Graduation from high school or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones, perform typing, filing, PC usage, photocopying, and shredding confidential documents.
• Pick-up and delivery of police-related items in the metropolitan area.
• Ensure Mesa Police Department vehicles are properly maintained and contain a full complement of equipment.
• May be required to perform some heavy physical work such as lifting, moving furniture, and lifting 50-pound boxes of flares.
