Job summary

Iowa State University is seeking a Police Sergeant to act as shift supervisor in the Lieutenant's absence. The role oversees daily shift operations, assigns tasks, reviews reports, and provides input for evaluations.

Candidates must hold law enforcement certification and have experience as a Police Officer or equivalent. Special duties include backing up Public Safety staff on scene and potentially rotating to other Sergeant assignments, under general supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have certification from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy or other state certification and meet Iowa Administrative Code 501-3.8(80B).
• Two years experience as a Police Officer or equivalent; or AA/AS plus one year experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign tasks and supervise the shift in the absence of the Lieutenant.
• Review reports and oversee day-to-day shift operations.
• Provide input into employee evaluations and back-up for staff as needed.
• Coordinate with Lieutenant on shift activities and incidents.
