Job description

Position Overview

The University invites applications for the position of Police Sergeant. The incumbent supervises one uniform patrol shift that includes Police Officers 1 through 3 and a Communications Officer. The shift runs from 5am to 5pm or 5pm to 5am with rotating days off/on, depending on assignment. The Sergeant reports to the Police Lieutenant – Uniform Patrol. Application deadline: July7,2026.

Compensation

Current Salary: $24.35 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three (3) years of law enforcement experience.

Experience Substitution

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university substitute for one year of the required experience, up to a maximum of 60 semester hours (two years of experience).

Special Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
• Active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required at the time of application.
• Must be able to be certified through the Southeast Defensive Driving Course.
• Applicants with felony convictions or under indictment are disqualified until relief is granted.
• May be required to qualify annually with a firearm.
• May be required to be eligible for bond.
