Job summary

The Town of Bluffton (SC) is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to enforce laws, investigate crimes, and maintain public safety. You will maintain records, testify in court, and prepare reports while serving the community across a variety of shifts.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid SC driver’s license, and SCCJA certification; prior law enforcement experience is preferred. Training through SCCJA is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; no experience required but some law enforcement experience preferred.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license and SCCJA certification as required.
• Knowledge of police methods, procedures, and local geography.

Responsibilities

• Enforces laws and investigates criminal activity to ensure public safety.
• Maintains records and files, prepares reports, and testifies in court.
• Performs patrols, traffic stops, escorts, and directs traffic as needed.
• Responds to calls, serves warrants, and participates in training programs.
• May be assigned to collateral duties such as school resources or investigations.
