Qualifications

• Knowledge of the specific practices and procedures for assigned unit(s).
• Knowledge of police practices, methods, procedures, equipment and services.
• Knowledge of customer service and public relations methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software to prepare reports and research databases.
• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Ability to acquire skill in the use of firearms, radio equipment, etc.

Responsabilités

• Conduct routine patrols to deter crime and respond to hazards.
• Respond to calls for service including investigations of civil and criminal activity.
• Mediates and negotiates conflicts within the community.
• Arrests, charges, and books violators or those with warrants.
• Present testimony and evidence in municipal and county courts.
• Assist with events including traffic and crowd control.
• Promote crime prevention and neighborhood watch programs.
• Complete reports and case files in a timely manner.
• Interview victims, witnesses, suspects and informants for investigations.
• Plan and conduct criminal investigations using evidence and statements.
• Analyze situations to determine best procedures.
• Transport prisoners to county jails.
• Prepare written reports as required.
• Explain prosecution procedures to crime victims.
• Check and secure equipment before leaving.
• Represent the Department to the public when required.
• Conduct background investigations and interviews for applicants.
• Maintain communications with applicants and candidates.
• Promote department-community relations and events.
