Job summary

The City of Irvine is seeking a Police Officer Recruit to join a progressive, diverse department. You will complete a P.O.S.T.-approved basic academy and, after six months, be promoted to Police Officer.

Your impact includes advancing public safety through community collaboration, a 20-week Field Training Officer program, and enforcing laws while writing reports and testifying in court.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 60 college level units or an AA degree, or any combination that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with community partners to foster collaboration and problem solving.
• Complete a 20-week Field Training Officer (FTO) program to prepare for patrol duties.
• Investigate crime against persons or property, make arrests, and enforce traffic regulations.
• Write police reports, testify in court, and perform other related law enforcement duties.
• Interface closely with all segments of the community.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Requires possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver license.
