Job summary

City of El Monte seeks Police Recruit candidates enrolled in a California POST Basic Academy. The position is a training entry with the eventual transition to sworn Police Officer upon academy completion.

The role includes a $5,000 signing bonus paid in two installments, contingent upon graduation and probation completion, with a term limited to academy completion and a one-year City service commitment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age at appointment.
• US citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License.
• Must pass POST background, medical, psychological and polygraph exams.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete the California POST Basic Academy training.
• Be sworn in as a Police Officer after graduation with full authority.
• Commit to a minimum one-year service or reimburse training costs.
