Job summary

Prince William County Government seeks a Police Planner to support the Planning, Research & Facilities Services Unit. The role advances research, planning, and facilities management for the Police Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 5 years' related experience in research, planning, and facilities management.
• Preference for an Associate’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, public policy, or related field.
• Experience in grants management (full life cycle) for local government.
• Experience with access control management for secure facilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office, grants management systems, ERP and EPM systems.

The Department seeks to refine its capabilities in research, planning, and facilities management. As a key role within the Financial & Technical Services Division, we are seeking qualified candidates to serve as the Police Planner within the Planning, Research & Facilities Services Unit.

About This Role:

The Police Planner for the Research, Planning, and Facilities Management Unit will play an important role in expanding and optimizing all workstreams of the unit. The key job duties will include, but are not limited to: management of all facilities (owned and leased), supporting planning functions (comprehensive, strategic, small area development, land use); grants management (full life cycle); administering security and access controls; executing special projects; and other duties as assigned. The selected candidate will possess strong organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities, maintaining accurate records, and meeting deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related experience in research, planning, and facilities management within law enforcement or public safety settings.

Preferences:

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, public policy, or related field of study.
• Experience in research, planning, and/or facilities management for a department or agency.
• Experience in grants management (full life cycle) for a local government department or agency.
• Experience in access control management for law enforcement or a secure facility setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, federal and state grants management systems, enterprise resourcing planning system, and enterprise performance management system.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal rules and regulations in public safety settings.
• Experience in project management.
• Experience in developing policies and/or procedures, and/or implementing them accordingly.

Special Requirements:All employees considered for hire by the Police Department are subject to a Polygraph Examination and a thorough Background Investigation.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm, and will periodically require time commitments outside of normal business hours to include evenings and weekends.

Starting Salary Range: $83,272.80 – $97,968.00
