Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Police Officer to provide law enforcement, security, loss prevention, and customer service within the hospital environment. The officer maintains a visible presence to deter threats and protects patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include patrolling facilities, responding to emergencies, and supporting nursing staff with safety initiatives. Candidates must meet LPO and BLS requirements and maintain professional conduct across shifts.

Qualifications

• Education level requirements include an associate degree or two years of work experience beyond minimum qualification.
• Experience: two years in related security or law enforcement fields.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire and valid Peace Officer license as required.

• Patrols assigned areas in vehicle, by bicycle, and on foot to detect and deter crime.
• Apprehends subjects committing crimes.
• Responds to emergency calls, safety escorts, and calls for assistance.
• Produces complete, accurate reports following internal processes and legal requirements.

• Transports legal documents and supplies; ensure safe transfer of valuables.

Job Summary

The Police Officer is a sworn officer responsible for law enforcement, security, loss prevention, and customer service. The officer provides a visible presence to deter hospital threats. Duties include maintaining law and order on hospital grounds. Officers patrol and protect buildings and check for unauthorized patient movement, security breaches, and unsafe conditions. They conduct investigations, make arrests, testify in court, and enforce traffic and parking rules. Officers also monitor patient and visitor activities. They assist nursing staff with combative patients and perform searches for unauthorized patient absences.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Patrols assigned areas in vehicle, by bicycle, and on foot to detect and deter crime.
• Apprehends subjects committing crimes.
• Responds to emergency calls, safety escorts, and calls for assistance.
• Produces complete, accurate, and concise reports. Includes criminal offenses, false fire alarms, safety hazards, and general information. Follows internal processes and legal requirements.
• Serves in specialized units such as investigations, fire safety, crime prevention, and training as assigned and emergency management.
• Completes initial investigations and follow-up investigations as assigned.
• Participates in crime prevention strategies and special programs as assigned.
• Enforces state laws, policies, procedures, and forwards the mission of the organization.
• Transports legal documents, valuables, medical instruments, and supplies. Ensures the safe and timely transfer of valued articles.
• Stays current with rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines affecting the department and organization. Stays updated on security developments by attending training. Reads security literature and journals.

• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire.
• Licensed Peace Officer (LPO): Lic Peace Officer required within 90 days of hire.
• Drivers License (TXDL): If moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire.
