City of Newnan's Newnan Police Department is seeking a Police Officer Trainee to join our team. This full-time position provides hands-on community service as you train for certification, with wrap-around support to help you grow in public safety.

During training at the POST-approved Police Academy, you will learn essential skills while earning a salary that increases upon graduation, with a comprehensive benefits package and a clear path to advancement within the City of Newnan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum age 20
• Valid US driver’s license (no suspensions or revocations)
• Written Examination, Physical Readiness Test, Background Investigation
• Psychological Screening, Polygraph, Medical and Drug Screening

Responsibilities

• Attend formal classes in basic law enforcement training to attain certification as a Police Officer
• Complete weekly program components and pass related tests
• Complete additional required training in emergency vehicle operations, firearms, and other courses
• Participate in mandatory physical fitness training
• Academy participation is subject to department policies and may lead to dismissal for violations
