City of San Mateo invites applicants for Police Officer Trainee with the San Mateo Police Department. This civilian, non-sworn position is hired to enter a POST-certified academy and, upon successful training and vacancy, will be sworn as a Police Officer.

Minimum qualifications include 21+ years old, valid California driver’s license, POST or NTN exam certificates, and no felonies. The process includes a polygraph, medical, psych, background checks, and proof of legal work in the U.S.
