Job summary

Cathedral City Police Department is hiring police officer recruits on a temporary/at-will basis. The paid trainee will attend a basic POST-certified recruit academy and may be sworn in as a full-duty Police Officer upon graduation and completion of employment requirements.

Candidates must pass the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network, with NTN scores valid within the last 6 months. Active academy students may waive the NTN exam.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship prior to appointment.
• Minimum age 21 at appointment.
• Valid California Class C driver's license.
• Good physical fitness and mental health as required by POST standards.
• Must be able to work varied shifts including holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

The City of Cathedral City is seeking enthusiastic women and men interested in establishing a challenging career in Public Safety.

PAY RATE: $27.00 per hour

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Temporary/at-will

A Police Officer Recruit serves as a paid at-will employee while attending training at a basic POST-certified recruit academy and may be sworn in as a full-duty Police Officer upon successful graduation and completion of City Police employment requirements.

NTN scores must have been issued within the last 6 months from the date when you submitted your application with the City.

ACTIVE ACADEMY STUDENTS: If you are currently enrolled in a Police Academy, you do not need to take the exam through NTN. Please indicate this is our Supplemental Question regarding active enrollment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Based upon the information presented in the application, a limited number of candidates who possess qualifications most pertinent to the position will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include, but is not limited to the following components: application review and evaluation, written examination or exercise, physical examination, practical exercise and interview evaluation.
