Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 19 years old and a U.S. citizen with no felony/misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
• Completion of Florida minimum standards; medical and fitness requirements.
• Preferred: 60 college credits, 2 years military service with honorable discharge, or 3 years prior certified law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Make arrests as needed, upholding safety using restraints and force when necessary.
• Prepare investigative and other reports, including sketches, using proper grammar and math.
• Exercise judgment on detentions, searches, and use of force.
• Operate a police vehicle in various conditions and emergencies.
• Communicate effectively over radio channels.
• Gather information in investigations by interviewing victims, witnesses, suspects, and informants.
• Load, unload, aim, and fire firearms under stress following certification standards.
• Search people, vehicles, buildings, and outdoor areas; patrol by car, foot, motorcycle, or bicycle.
• Conduct visual and audio surveillance for extended periods.
