City of Hoover in Alabama seeks Police Officer candidates to enforce laws, protect life and property, and serve the community. This role requires POST certification or enrollment in ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification, a valid Alabama driver's license, and the ability to pass a thorough background check.
Selected officers will complete the department's evaluation process, may face physical agility tests, and will participate in community relations, school programs, and traffic safety initiatives.

Currently enrolled and attending an ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification Course (applicant must provide enrollment or acceptance letter from the Academy or ACCS);
Performs a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes, including protecting life and property, enforcing all laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, making arrests, providing credible testimony in various courts, conducting traffic surveys to determine problem areas, assisting in school and community functions, as well as, public relations activities, and other cases as assigned.

All candidates must provide a copy of their current POST certification or a copy of a current acceptance, enrollment, or welcome letter from the academy/ACCS confirming that the applicant is currently enrolled and attending an ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification Course. These documents must be electronically attached to your application. Applications lacking the appropriate documentation will not be forwarded to the Police Department for further evaluation.
Police Officer candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be further screened through our evaluation process, which considers related work experience, education, certifications and special training. Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews.

Candidates will be informed of the date, time and location of the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test at a later date and only after successful completion of an interview or interviews.
