Job summary

The City of Pacifica Police Department invites experienced officers to apply through a continuous recruitment process. Positions require POST Basic Academy credentials, with emphasis on lateral transfer, academy graduate, or academy attendee status.

Officers patrol City streets, protect life and property, enforce laws, and perform investigative work while serving a diverse community in the Pacifica area. The department offers a comprehensive benefit package and CalPERS retirement.

Qualifications

• Lateral Transfer: Completion of POST approved Basic Academy and actively employed as a Peace Officer within the last twelve months; minimum one year patrol experience.
• POST Academy Graduate: Possession of a Certified POST Basic Academy Certificate (800+ hours) issued within 3 years.
• POST Academy Attendee: Currently enrolled in a POST Basic Academy as a “non-affiliate” (800 hours).
• Education: Graduation from High School or equivalent; community college education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol an assigned beat, protect life and property, prevent crime and maintain order.
• Enforce laws, ordinances and constitutional mandates; perform investigative work.
• Duties include field training or instruction in areas such as firearms and defensive tactics.
• Maintain communications and respond to emergencies as directed; write reports.
• Develop public relations and work with other agencies to protect the community.
