Job summary

City of Manhattan Beach is seeking qualified lateral candidates for Police Officer roles. Salary placement depends on experience; certifications such as POST can supplement compensation. A recruitment bonus of 3%–10% of starting base salary is available for new hires at appointment.

Academy graduates and lateral officers with POST certification are encouraged to apply. Under general supervision, officers patrol assigned areas, enforce laws, respond to calls, conduct preliminary investigations,

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED is required.
• Academy Graduate/Police Officer candidates must have graduated from a POST-certified Basic Academy.
• Lateral Police Officer candidates must be currently employed as a peace officer with a valid POST certificate.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area and enforces laws and regulations.
• Responds to radio calls and assists the public.
• Engages in investigations and preserves evidence when needed.
• Maintains records, reports, and documentation for cases.
• Participates in training and field operations, including specialized units.
