The Roseville Police Department is hiring sworn police officers.

Experience

• Employment as a sworn Police Officer with a California P.O.S.T. certified agency or successful completion of a P.O.S.T. approved police academy by date of appointment
• Receipt of California P.O.S.T Basic Course Waiver by date of appointment counts towards experience.

Training

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or a higher level degree from an accredited educational institution.

License or Certificate

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.
• Possession of one of the following:
  • A current California P.O.S.T. (Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission) academy Graduation Certificate
  • POST Proof of Eligibility (POE)
  • Basic Certificate
  • Basic Course Waiver by date of appointment
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid certificates within the first 12 months of employment.
• Must be age 21 by date of appointment.

Employees must be tobacco free and cannot use tobacco products on or off duty.

Selection Process

• All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant’s experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List.
• Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.
• Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, a City‑paid fingerprint check, a pre‑employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
