City of Renton is hiring a Police Officer – Lateral to perform general duty policing and engage with the community on an assigned shift. The role requires ability to respond to emergencies, patrol diverse areas, and enforce laws with sound judgment and de-escalation skills.

The position offers a base salary of $103,788–$128,088 annually with education premiums, retirement plans, health benefits, and a take-home vehicle after the academy. Applicants must meet WA requirements and pass examinations.

Qualifikationen

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Not less than 21 years of age at the time of examination.
• Ability to read and write the English language.
• Lawful permanent resident or US citizen.
• Ability to pass entrance examination and meet medical/health standards.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license by date of hire.
• Background investigation including polygraph, psychological evaluation, medical, and driving record checks.
• Must be able to qualify for the ACCESS Certification.

Aufgaben

• Perform general duty police work to protect life and property.
• Enforce laws and ordinances and engage with community members.
• Respond to 911 calls and routine dispatched incidents.
• Patrol the city by vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle, or on foot to deter crime.
• Write police and related reports and appear in court when needed.
• Maintain physical fitness and adhere to department policies.
