Applicants with qualified experience will be paid within the step system equivalent to their experience, up to $88,740 annually for 5+ years of experience as a sworn police officer. Qualified experience must come from a like-sized or larger municipal, state, county, or university policing agency, where the applicant served as a patrol officer, investigator, or supervisor. In order to qualify as a lateral, applicants must be currently employed, or employed within the last 6 months at a law enforcement agency.
POST-certified applicants who do notmeet the criteria for lateral pay, will begin at the base salary and progress through the step system.

Current, valid Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification
One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
