Job summary

Gwinnett County Police Department is seeking candidates who will help enforce county and state laws to maintain public safety. The role includes preparing reports on crimes, violations, and accidents, and assisting crime victims and the general public.

Training through the academy is required after selection. The position involves 24-hour on-call assignments, overtime, and varied shifts, with a base salary described in the job's pay section and potential educational incentives continuing through

Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
U.S. citizen eligible for Georgia POST certification.
Valid driver's license from state of residency.
Must be 21 years of age (20 at time of application).
Must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation.

Responsibilities

Assists with enforcing county and state laws to provide a safe environment for the public.
Assists with the preparation of reports on crimes, violations and accidents committed within the County.
Assists in providing help to crime victims and the general public.
Assists in performing security checks of closed businesses and residential areas.
Assists in maintaining County car, uniforms, weapons and county property.
Attends and testifies in court on behalf of the County.
This position requires 24 hours on call assignment, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
