Qualifications

  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or related discipline.
  • Preferred: Current state law enforcement commissioned officers.
  • Preferred: Evidence of specialized training (firearms, crime scene, self-defense, etc.).
  • Preferred: Experience working in an educational institution.
  • Preferred: Demonstrate experience using Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol college grounds by foot, bicycle, or vehicle.
  • Respond to calls for assistance and direct traffic.
  • Enforce laws and college regulations; issue citations.
  • Write reports on offenses and incidents.
  • Conduct follow-up investigations of crimes and incidents.
  • Attend classes and trainings to maintain knowledge.
  • Cover all shifts and extra shifts as needed.
  • Submit daily activity log to Chief of College Police.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief of College Police.
  • Assignments vary with department needs.

Salary: $49,425 – $67,958

Position Summary:

College Police provides safety and security related services to all students, staff, faculty, and visitors for all KCKCC Colleges. Major duties and responsibilities include patrolling College (foot, bicycle, and vehicle); responding to calls for assistance; locking and unlocking facilities; monitoring security cameras; identifying violations; providing security services for events; directing traffic; issuing traffic citations; and maintaining records, logs, and documentation of activities and incidents.

Essential Functions:
  • Detect and process traffic and parking violations according to college regulations.
  • Enforce all federal laws, state statutes, local ordinances and College regulations concerning the safety of college personnel and individuals from the community who utilize the college facilities.
  • Providing general patrol of college grounds and buildings by vehicle or on foot.
  • Write reports on criminal offenses and other incidents.
  • Conduct follow-up investigations of crimes and incidents.
  • Must be able to perform under stressful conditions.
  • Attend classes, training sessions, and workshops to maintain current knowledge of law enforcement.
  • Keep current on changes in his/her area of responsibility.
  • Being able to work all shifts and available to cover any extra shifts that may arise due to sickness, vacations, special events, etc.
  • Submitting daily activity log to the Chief of College Police.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of College Police.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with one (1) year of experience or training in a security related area or a combination of education and tested experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and can operate a motor vehicle.

  • Attendance at Law Enforcement conferences, workshops and/or seminars.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or a related discipline.
  • Current state law enforcement commissioned officers.
  • Evidence of specialized training, firearms, crime scene, self-defense, etc.
  • Experience working in an educational institution.
  • Demonstrate experience using Microsoft Office products.
