The Fairfield Police Department in Fairfield, IA is hiring full-time Police Officers to patrol the community, deter crime, and engage with residents. Officers work 12-hour Panama shifts with rotating days/nights and every other weekend off to support work-life balance.

Candidates must live within 30 minutes of Fairfield, hold a high school diploma or GED, have a valid driver’s license, and pass a series of tests including background, fitness, and psychology; a $6,000 sign-on bonus is offered for

Position Overview

As a Police Officer with the Fairfield Police Department, you will perform a wide variety of law enforcement duties including patrol, crime prevention, investigation, traffic enforcement, and community policing. You’ll work 12-hour shifts on a Panama schedule, typically rotating between days and nights every 3 months, with every other weekend off.

Residency Requirement: Officers must reside within 30 minutes of Fairfield. This policy offers flexibility while ensuring timely response capability.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to pass background check, physical fitness test, and psychological evaluation
