Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years of age at hire.
  • Certified law enforcement experience and/or one year of public safety or related experience.
  • Required certification, licensure, or other credentials as per SC law.
  • Knowledge of proper law enforcement behavior, modern techniques, evidence collection, legal rights, SC laws, and university policies.
  • Skill in operating law enforcement vehicles, weapons, and communication equipment.
  • Pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing; post‑employment testing for safety‑sensitive positions.

Certified police officers in accordance with SC Code of Laws 23-6-430, empowered with full arrest and police authority statewide. Responsibilities include enforcing state laws and university rules and regulations.

Schedule and Location

Work Schedule: 28‑day rotating 12‑hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays. Hours per week: 40. Location: Beaufort County, SC.

Salary and Benefits
  • Starting pay range based on experience: $58,000 minimum (no experience) to $70,566 (5+ years certified law enforcement).
  • Built‑in overtime up to $7,000.
