City of Thomasville seeks a non-sworn civilian to support the public, law enforcement officers and other personnel with a range of PR, technical and clerical tasks connected to law enforcement functions.
Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, writing police reports, directing traffic, collecting evidence, attending court, and coordinating with Fire and EMS. Ideal candidates will communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality.
Position held by a non-sworn civilian capable of full duty to assist the public, law enforcement officers and other personnel by performing a variety of public relations, technical, clerical and other activities related to law enforcement functions by performing the following duties.
This position requires being in all types of outdoor elements including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, etc. Due to the nature of the type of individuals and calls for service the officer in the position may be subjected to all sorts of drugs and the fumes and hazards therein. There may be times when officer could be exposed to blood‑borne pathogens during the course of their duties.
Mobility to work in typical office and field settings using standard office equipment is required. In addition, vision to read printed materials and computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone and other duties assigned.
