Job summary

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and overall direction for the City’s Police Department, guiding operations, personnel, policies, programs, and resources to promote a safe and secure community. The position also involves budget oversight and liaison with partners to advance public safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Police Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Eight years of progressive law enforcement experience as a licensed police officer.
• At least four years in a supervisory capacity; command experience preferred.
• Minnesota POST License required.
• Minnesota Class D Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Police Department.
• Oversee operations, personnel, policies, programs, and resources.
• Manage departmental budget and coordinate with law enforcement and community partners.
• Represent the city on public safety matters and serve on the senior management team.
• Act as the City's Emergency Management Director.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Police Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field
