Job summary

City of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina seeks an entry‑level Police Officer, Uncertified, for a structured training role. You will attend training, assist with incident responses, and support recordkeeping while under the supervision of a field training officer.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, U.S. citizenship, CPR training, firearm qualification, and a valid SC driver’s license, with certification through the SC CJ Academy on completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• U.S. Citizen.
• South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement certification required.
• CPR training certified.
• Firearm operation qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Attend training and seminars to gain skills in department operations and policy.
• Inspect and maintain police vehicles, uniform, weapons, and equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and operate under safe conditions.
• Answer calls, provide information, and route messages.
• Research criminal histories and locations as needed.
• Maintain records, logs, and reference materials.
• Prepare forms, reports, and various documentation.
• Operate police-related equipment as required.
