Job summary

LCMC Health seeks a qualified candidate to oversee point-of-care (POC) testing programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and thorough documentation. The role includes data compilation for monthly management reports, monitoring POC results, and glucose meter troubleshooting.

You will drive instrument selection, quality improvements, and staff education across POC sites. The position requires three years of clinical laboratory experience, and a valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure POC testing meets regulatory requirements and design organized, well-documented programs.
  • Compile data into monthly reports for Laboratory Manager review.
  • Monitor POC patient results and review glucose meter results, troubleshooting unusual values.
  • Troubleshoot performance failures and initiate corrective action; maintain glucose meter inventory.
  • Stay current on POCT instrumentation and procedures; advise on instrumentation for POCT needs.
  • Identify and implement POCT quality process improvements with senior management.
  • Coordinate testing education and competency testing for non-laboratory staff performing POC testing.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Ensure POC testing meets all regulatory requirements for standards, and design organized, well‑documented, and thorough programs providing assistance to all POC user sites.
  • Compile all data into a monthly report to be reviewed by the Laboratory Manager, noting any deficiencies or errors.
  • Monitor POC patient results, reviewing glucose meter results and troubleshooting any unusual or unexpected values.
  • Troubleshoot performance failures and initiate corrective action and/or repair, maintaining glucose meter inventory and changeout.
  • Remain current on POCT instrumentation and procedures in the field, and provide input into the selection of instrumentation appropriate for POCT needs.
  • Identify and implement avenues for POCT quality process improvement in collaboration with senior management.
  • Coordinate testing education, including organizing required training and competency testing for non‑laboratory staff performing POC testing.
Experience and Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist or Specialist) issued through LSBME.
Skills and Abilities
  • Capable of working under stress, with excellent time‑management skills and the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptable to a fluid work environment where deadlines and priorities are constantly changing.
