Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Point of Care Coordinator in Fort Smith for a full-time role within the Laboratory services team. The position reports to the Lab Supervisor and ultimately to the Executive Director of Laboratory Services, and requires comfort with point-of-care technology.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in medical technology or a related science and ASCP certification, with a preference for 5+ years in a laboratory setting. Mercy offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Certifications: Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or equivalent.
• Persons acquiring initial Certification after January 1, 2004, must maintain certification status as required by ASCP.
• Other: Must be comfortable with point of care technology.
• Preferred Experience: Prefer at least 5 years working in the laboratory

It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest.
