Job summary

Brightpoint Brand seeks a part-time podiatrist to provide primary foot and ankle care in outpatient settings in the Bronx. You will educate patients on prevention and early detection under the guidance of the Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing/Operating Officer.

The role focuses on diabetic foot care, casts for orthotics, and referrals to specialists as needed, contributing to comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience with electronic health records preferred.
• Experience in Primary Care and HIV/AIDS care with harm reduction principles preferred.
• Visual and auditory acuity for medical procedures and patient communication.
• HIPAA compliance knowledge; maintain DEA registration.
• CPR certification and CME/CEU requirements for licensure.

Responsibilities

• Make foot casts for custom orthotics.
• Prescribe corrective shoes and braces for gait/balance issues.
• Counsel patients on preventative foot care.

Reports To: Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing/Operating Officer

Location: Bronx

Position Status: Part-Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

In collaboration with the entire medical staff, the Podiatrist will provide primary podiatric care to outpatient clients. He/she will be instrumental in providing health education, prevention, and early detection; under the guidance of the Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing/Operating Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Diagnose disorders of the feet and ankles such as bunions, calluses, corns, fungal infection of the skin or nails, ankle pronation, gait abnormalities, heel spurs, arch deformities and ingrown toenails
• Diabetic foot care such as nail trims, callus removal, peripheral neuropathy testing, skin ulcer treatment and amputation.
• Make foot casts for custom orthotics
• Prescribe corrective shoes and braces to treat gait and balance issues
• Consult with patients about preventative foot care
• Refer patients to other medical specialists if symptoms suggest severe illnesses such as diabetes, heart or kidney disease

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience with an electronic health record, preferred
• Experience in Primary Care and clinical management of persons with HIV/AIDS and experience in harm reduction principles is preferred
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and perform medical procedures as indicated
• Auditory acuity to handle phone calls and interact extensively with patients
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance
• Maintains current DEA registration
• Maintains current CPR certification
• Maintains CMEs/CEUs required for licensure
• Maintains current Infection Control certification
