ZettaMine is seeking a Pod Lead in Chemical Engineering (Terminal Bench Science) for a short-term, remote freelancing engagement. You will lead a pod of technical trainers to develop terminal-based tasks for frontier AI training and evaluation, reviewing statements, kinetics, data, and tests to ensure accuracy and reproducibility.

The role requires PhD or equivalent experience, strong programming in Python/Julia/C/C++/MATLAB, and expertise in process modeling and thermodynamics.

Qualifications

• PhD, postdoc, or equivalent in Chemical Engineering.
• Strong programming in Python, Julia, C/C++, or MATLAB/Octave; Linux proficiency.
• Experience in process modeling, reaction kinetics, thermodynamic modeling, or process simulation.
• Ability to evaluate mass/energy balances and solver convergence.
• Excellent written technical feedback and mentoring experience.

Responsabilités

• Lead and mentor a pod of 5–10 technical trainers developing terminal-based chemical engineering tasks for frontier AI training/evaluation.
• Review engineering tasks end-to-end: problem statements, kinetics, data, flowsheets, environments, references, tests.
• Validate tasks involving reaction engineering, thermodynamics, phase equilibria, transport, separation, and control.
• Ensure tasks reflect authentic workflows requiring multi-step technical reasoning.
• Provide actionable feedback, track revisions, and ensure quality before approval.
• Onboard trainers, allocate work, monitor quality and productivity.

Freelancing Opportunity :- We are hiring a Pod Lead Chemical Engineering (Terminal Bench Science) for a short-term Frontier AI

Research, Chemical Engineering & AI Model Evaluation.

Location: India

Role: Pod Lead - Chemical Engineering (Terminal Bench Science)

Educational Eligibility: PhD, postdoctoral experience, or equivalent advanced technical experience in Chemical Engineering.

Mode: Remote-Freelancing

Start: Immediate

Duration: 4 Weeks

Mandatory Eligibility Criteria

Technical Qualification:

• Strong programming skills in Python, Julia, C/C++, or MATLAB/Octave, with proficiency in Linux environments.
• Hands-on expertise in at least one major area: Process Modeling | Reaction Kinetics | Thermodynamic Modeling | Process Simulation | Process Optimization.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, numerical methods, computational modeling, and technical validation.
• Experience reviewing complex technical work, chemical process simulations, computational models, or research outputs.
• Ability to evaluate mass and energy balances, thermodynamic assumptions, numerical accuracy, solver convergence, and computational results.
• Strong analytical skills to identify technical errors, unrealistic assumptions, edge cases, and flawed engineering methodologies.
• Experience mentoring technical teams, reviewing deliverables, and maintaining quality standards.
• Excellent written communication skills for providing precise technical feedback and documenting engineering requirements.

Availability

• Minimum 40 hours per week.
• Availability to work at least 8 hours per day.
• Minimum 4 hours of overlap with PST business hours.

What You'll Work On

• Lead and mentor a pod of approximately 5-10 technical trainers developing realistic, terminal-based chemical engineering tasks for a frontier AI training and evaluation initiative.
• Review engineering tasks end to end, including problem statements, reaction kinetics, thermodynamic data, process flowsheets, computational environments, reference solutions, and automated tests.
• Validate tasks involving reaction engineering, thermodynamics, phase equilibria, transport phenomena, separation processes, process simulation, process control, optimization, combustion, and electrochemical engineering.
• Ensure tasks reflect authentic chemical engineering workflows and require meaningful multi-step technical reasoning.
• Verify engineering accuracy across mass and energy balances, thermodynamic consistency, property data, unit handling, and numerical convergence.
• Validate computational models, ODE/DAE solvers, solver tolerances, initial conditions, and simulation results for reproducibility and technical correctness.
• Review automated graders to ensure they accurately evaluate engineering outputs such as conversion, yield, selectivity, purity, energy consumption, and process constraint satisfaction.
• Identify technical inaccuracies, unrealistic assumptions, incorrect tolerances, and opportunities to bypass engineering calculations or simulations.
• Provide actionable technical feedback, track revisions, and ensure quality issues are resolved before task approval.
• Onboard trainers, allocate work, monitor quality and productivity, and resolve technical blockers.
• Maintain technical documentation, quality standards, and best practices throughout task development.
