Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevSecOps Integration Engineer based in the United States. As a DevSecOps Integration Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting critical government and healthcare-related systems. You will play a key role in cloud migration initiatives, leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build resilient architectures and automate software delivery through modern CI/CD practices. Working at the intersection of cloud engineering, security, and operations, you will ensure systems meet demanding performance, reliability, and compliance requirements. You will also support healthcare data integrations, infrastructure automation, and monitoring solutions that enable secure and efficient information exchange. Collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams, you will help optimize cloud environments while addressing complex infrastructure and security challenges. This opportunity is suited to an experienced cloud engineer who values technical excellence, operational reliability, and meaningful contributions to public-sector technology services.

Accountabilities
  • Lead cloud migration initiatives: Plan and execute migrations to cloud environments, identify cloud-readiness gaps, and design secure, scalable solutions for applications, infrastructure, and enterprise systems.
  • Design and manage AWS infrastructure: Build, deploy, and maintain cloud architectures using AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and Route 53.
  • Develop CI/CD automation: Design, implement, and operate continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that improve deployment consistency, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Implement infrastructure as code: Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
  • Strengthen cloud security: Manage cloud permissions, identity and access controls, encryption, key management, and security services such as AWS Shield and AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF). Ensure compliance with applicable federal and healthcare data protection requirements.
  • Manage cloud networking: Configure and maintain AWS networking components, including VPC peering, Direct Connect, and VPN connectivity, to support secure and reliable communication between systems.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance: Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, and tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or New Relic. Troubleshoot issues and optimize availability, performance, and resource utilization.
  • Support enterprise cloud environments: Provide technical support for cloud-hosted applications and services, including environment setup, configuration, provisioning, and ongoing maintenance within AWS GovCloud and Veterans Affairs Enterprise Cloud environments.
  • Maintain regulatory and operational compliance: Support required development, release, and documentation processes, ensuring cloud solutions align with applicable federal policies, security standards, and program requirements.
  • Develop technical architecture documentation: Produce and maintain data flow diagrams, cloud architecture diagrams, transition plans, system configurations, operational procedures, and cloud security documentation.
  • Manage databases and data services: Support AWS database services, including Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift, with responsibility for performance tuning, backup strategies, recovery procedures, and reliability.
  • Support healthcare data integration: Where applicable, implement and maintain healthcare Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integrations, including X12 transaction workflows, ensuring secure and reliable processing of healthcare-related information.
  • Collaborate and provide technical leadership: Work with cross-functional teams, lead technical initiatives, troubleshoot complex problems, and mentor junior engineers. Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide operational support: Participate in on-call rotations or emergency maintenance activities when required, helping maintain system availability and respond to critical incidents.
  • Continuously improve cloud operations: Stay informed about emerging AWS technologies, DevSecOps practices, automation tools, and industry trends to enhance security, efficiency, and service delivery.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional experience: At least 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on designing, deploying, securing, and managing AWS infrastructure and services.
