Job summary

Carol Woods Retirement Community in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking a dining room assistant to provide prompt table service, assist with meal delivery and clearing, and maintain the dining area in a clean, welcoming state.

You will help set tables, replenish condiments and beverages, and restock food and non-food items during meals. Availability on weekends and evenings is required; 4pm–8pm shifts apply.

RIMARY FUNCTION:Provide prompt and accurate table service. Assist in the maintenance of the dining room and related service areas.The person in this role is also expected to:Uphold and put into daily practice the values of Carol Woods.Support the well-being and quality of life of every individual resident.Function as a good steward of resident resources.Contribute to Carol Woods approach to continual quality improvement.Support the concepts of a learning organization.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Follow service etiquette and perform plate service for meal delivery and clear tables between courses and at the end of the meal serviceKnow basic place settings when setting a table and set tables with place settings and condimentsReplenish condiments, beverages as neededMust come to work with proper uniform in accordance with dining uniform policyCleans kitchen equipment such as, carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, tray stands, chairs, beverage area, freezer, refrigerator, drains, dish machine, coffee/ tea maker, steam table, Biodigester, waffle maker, grill, etc.Communicates well with patients/residents and family members providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude to families, visitors, patients/residents and responds to expressed concerns while displaying a helpful, caring demeanor. Answers questions when appropriate in a professional manner.Be sensitive to and meet the needs of the residents, following through with their requestsFollows established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.Follows established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.Event preparation and service as required by event.Avoid cross-contaminationSet up bussing station in designated location.Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly dining room and related service areas.Assist in the restocking of all food and non-food items during mealtimes.All other duties as assigned.Experience:Previous food service-related experience preferred.Physical Requirements:Standing, lifting, walking, and carrying.Competencies:CommunicationWorking Conditions:Available weekends and evenings.Climate Controlled EnvironmentHours: 4pm to 8pm, Weekends and Intermittent
