Job summary

Highgate Hotels, The Joule Dallas, is seeking a Steward to support our kitchen team with daily cleaning, sanitation, and basic food-prep duties. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment and assisting with general duties as needed.

The role requires standing for long periods, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexible hours. Prior culinary or hotel experience is preferred. This is an hourly position located at The Joule in Dallas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness in kitchens and related areas.
• Deep-clean ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, and equipment.
• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans by hand or dishwashers.
• Store clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment.
• Maintain kitchen areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
• Prepare various foods for cooking or serving.
• Receive and store supplies.
• Monitor shortages and inform management.
• Sweep or scrub floors in common areas.
• Load or unload trucks with supplies or equipment.
• Handle chemicals safely and according to guidelines.
• Follow health department regulations on food and storage.

Built in the 1920s, the neo-Gothic landmark building at 1530 Main Street was originally the Dallas National Bank. Overview

As a Steward, you will hold an essential position in the kitchen operation. You will enjoy working within a kitchen and being part of a thorough and efficient team. You willbe responsible formaintainingcleanliness and sanitation standards in thekitchen andwill be using machine and manual cleaning methods to ensure the cleanliness of all glassware,tableware,and cooking utensils.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness in all kitchens, backdock,dumpsterand utility work areas.

• Deepcleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, walk-in refrigerators and freezers and other heavy kitchen equipment.

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwashers or by hand.

• Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.

• Maintain Kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition.

• Clean or prepare various foods for cooking or serving.
  • Receive and store supplies, such as food or utensils.
  • Keep management informed of shortage of equipment and supplies.
  • Sweep or scrub floors in allcommon areas.
  • Load orunload trucks that deliver or pick up food supplies or event equipment.
  • Proper safe handlingofall chemicals used.
  • Follow all Health Department and Company regulationsregardingfood and storage standards and safety.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested byleadership.

  Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Culinary experience preferred.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Ability to withstand temperature variations both hot and cold.

  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

  For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
