We are seeking a friendly, professional dining room assistant to join the hotel’s Food and Beverage team. This role includes clearing and resetting tables, assisting food servers, and providing courteous, professional and efficient service to guests. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Operational Responsibilities
- Set up tables before opening
- Stock and maintain service stations with the proper supplies before, during and after each shift
- Promptly clear and reset used tables
- Remove dirty china and glassware from front of the house to the dish area
- Take soiled linen to the Laundry Department for laundering
- Follow a checklist every shift
- Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Certification of completion in TABC and Food Handler
- Contribute positively to the team within the department
- Prepare for any guest requests
- Comply with Valencia Hotel Collection standards and regulations
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Valencia Hotel Group
- Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Be extremely courteous to all customers and fellow employees
- Maintain hotel equipment in proper working condition
- Demonstrate effective multitasking skills
- Guest Services
- Maintain knowledge of hotel services and amenities to assist guests with inquiries
- Provide personalized service by engaging with guests, learning their preferences, and making recommendations
- Greet guests upon arrival and departure
- Maintain a professional and welcoming demeanor to enhance the guest experience
- Study and practice the 18 Core Service Standards
- Team Support and Training
- Attend required meetings
- Keep work areas clean and organized
- Be courteous to all customers and fellow employees
- Attend monthly Food and Beverage Meetings
- Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on menu items, service standards, and company policies
- Communication and Reporting
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless guest service
- Report any incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately to management
- Safety & Compliance
- Comply with Valencia Hotel Group standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Wear required non-slip footwear
- Comply with local and state laws regarding alcohol service, including verifying guest identification when necessary
Basics
- Warmly welcoming and creating a refined, inviting restaurant atmosphere

- Follow all opening, shift, and closing procedures
- Maintain a polished and well-organized work area
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements
- Sitting: Not applicable
- Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry trays, glassware, and supplies up to 50 lbs
- Other: Frequent bending, reaching, and light lifting
Working Environment
- Interior: Primarily inside the hotel including guest areas, restaurant, bar, lobby and kitchen
- Exterior: Comfortable working outdoors if needed

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Handling difficult customers or complaints with professionalism
- Multitasking effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities
Education and Experience
- High school or equivalent education recommended
- TABC and Food Handler’s certificates
