SSC Services for Education, part of Compass Group, is hiring for a full-time Plumbing Technician (TAMUPV) at TAMU in Prairie View, TX. The role requires 1–5 years of maintenance experience in plumbing and related systems, with apprentice level considered.

Pay ranges from $13.50 to $17.50 per hour and benefits include a comprehensive package with same-day pay options. Location: TAMU 100 University Drive, Prairie View, TX 77446; schedule varies with both full and part-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• One to five years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• One to five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assists in making decisions on repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems and related facilities.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems and related equipment.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.

• We are hiring immediately for a full time PLUMBING TECHNICIAN (TAMUPV) position.
• Location: TAMU - 100 University Drive, Prairie View, TX 77446. (Openings at other locations within school district available)Note: online applications accepted only.
• Schedule: Full time schedule; days and hours may vary. More details upon interview. (Full and Part Time with the flexibility to meet most scheduling needs)
• Requirement: 1 year of prior maintenance experience with plumbing is required; apprentice I-III is preferred.
• Pay Range: $13.50 per hour to $17.50 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facility engineering and maintenance functions, while providing field leadership, ensuring quality assurance, supporting training efforts, and managing escalations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems and similar specialty equipment items with appropriate training, certification skills and licensing requirements as needed.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• One to five years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• One to five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.

Must have one of the following:

• TSBP Registered Plumber
• Valid driver’s license.
