Hoffmann Brothers, LLC in Nashville, TN is seeking a Plumbing Service Apprentice to support experienced plumbers with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and a clear path to becoming a licensed plumber.

You will identify tools, assist with installations, test systems, and communicate clearly with customers. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Identify required tools and equipment; select pipe types/sizes.
• Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures.
• Install supports for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
• Assemble and install valves and fittings; install and maintain plumbing equipment.
• Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures.
• Communicate with customers clearly about work progress.
• Work safely with teammates and customers.
• Operate drain cleaning/jetting equipment as required.
• Assist on excavation tasks; trenching/hand-digging as needed.
• Assist with repipes as required.

As the Plumbing Service Apprentice, you will play a critical role in supporting experienced Plumbing Service Professionals by assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems. This role is ideal for individuals starting their plumbing career who want hands-on experience, training, and the opportunity to progress toward becoming a Plumber.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify required tools and special equipment; select the type and size of pipe required.
• Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
• Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
• Assemble and install valves and fittings; install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls, underground storm sanitary and water piping systems, sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, conditioners, plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim
• Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
• Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
• Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, graded, and meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
• Communicate with customers in a clear, confident manner throughout the entire service so that they are aware of what is going on inside their home/business
• Work safely and help ensure that those you work with are working in a safe manner
• Operate drain cleaning and clearing equipment; perform jetting and milling when required
• Operate or assist on jobs requiring excavation; trenching, and hand-digging when required
• Perform or assist on partial and full repipes

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from ladders, lifts, or confined spaces.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to take direction.

Preferred:

• Plumbing trade school or prior apprenticeship preferred.
• Previous plumbing experience.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and plumbing terminology.

Additional Requirements:

To adequately perform the duties of this job the employee is regularly and routinely required to sit, stand, squat, kneel, walk, stoop, use hands to finger, handle controls, hear, and talk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50lbs and up because the equipment being used can be heavy and cumbersome. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment can vary depending on the season and scope of work - employees are required to work outdoors throughout the seasons. The work environment will subject employees to continual interruptions and changing priorities. Effective, consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others is required.
