Job summary

Jordan & Skala Engineers is seeking a Plumbing Engineer/Designer to own plumbing design in a BIM environment for multifamily and mixed-use buildings. You will coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams in Revit and support projects through construction.

The role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or related field, strong Revit skills, and knowledge of plumbing codes. AutoCAD proficiency is a plus; licensure (EIT/PE) or CPD certification is preferred.

• Strong working proficiency in Revit within a BIM workflow.
• Solid understanding of plumbing codes in multidisciplinary projects.
• AutoCAD proficiency; Revit primary for design deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Design domestic water, storm drainage, sanitary waste and vent, and natural gas distribution systems.
• Lead plumbing design for high-rise, mid-rise, garden-style, and mixed-use projects.
• Coordinate plumbing with MEP teams in a real-time BIM workflow (Revit).
• Support construction administration including submittal reviews and RFIs.

At Jordan & Skala Engineers (JSE), we design the plumbing systems behind the multifamily and mixed-use buildings shaping growing cities, skylines, and neighborhoods- everything from mid-rise and high-rise mixed-use towers to garden-style communities, including podium and garage-wrap construction. We’re looking for a Plumbing Engineer/Designer who can own design, collaborate in a technology driven BIM environment, and support projects through construction.

What you’ll do

Plumbing & Fire Protection Design

• Design domestic water, storm drainage, sanitary waste and vent, and natural gas distribution systems
• Size, select, schedule, and specify plumbing components including fixtures, specialties, and equipment
• Support fire protection design (including pumps, standpipes, and specialty systems)
• Produce clear, coordinated documentation for new construction and renovations

Multifamily & Mixed-Use Project Delivery

• Lead plumbing design for a range of building types, including:
  • High-rise and mid-rise apartments (including towers requiring complex riser strategies)
  • Garden-style and low-rise communities with repeatable unit stacks and phased construction
  • Student housing with high fixture density and durability-focused specifications
  • Luxury multifamily with extensive amenity areas (pools, fitness, club rooms, rooftop/terrace programs, etc.)
  • Mixed-use buildings that combine residential with retail/restaurant and other street-level uses
  • Podium and garage-wrap configurations that add coordination complexity across levels and occupancies
• Coordinate plumbing systems in a real-time Revit/BIM workflow alongside mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams
• Contribute to practical, code-aligned solutions for the “hard parts” of these buildings- tight shafts, repetitive stacks, equipment room constraints, and fast schedules

Construction Support

• Support construction administration including submittal reviews, RFI responses, field observations, and documentation updates
• Travel for job site visits and building surveys as required

What will make you successful

Required

• Strong working proficiency in Revit (plumbing design within a BIM workflow)
• Solid understanding of plumbing codes and how systems interact in dense, multidisciplinary projects
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience, if applicable)
• AutoCAD proficiency (Revit is primary; AutoCAD may be used for specific deliverables)

Preferred

• EIT or P.E. license (or clear path toward licensure)
• ASPE CPD certification
