Job summary

Community HigherEd in Tulsa seeks a substitute Plumbing Instructor for classroom and lab teaching, focusing on up-to-date industry equipment and customer-service oriented instruction. You will document grades and attendance, assist with retention efforts, and support varied student proficiency levels.

A minimum of three years of verified plumbing experience and an Oklahoma Journeyman or Unlimited Contractor license is required; college degree preferred and teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in plumbing service and repair with a customer service focus.
• Lecture and laboratory instruction focusing on up-to-date Industry Equipment.
• Document student grades and attendance; have working knowledge of Canvas and transcripts.
• Support student retention by reviewing completion of learning activities and contacting students as necessary.
• Demonstrate systemic problem-solving strategies in the Plumbing service setting.
• Instruct in process-specific specialized Plumbing equipment and tools.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and other assets per maintenance and safety procedures.
• Reports to the Department Head; participate in college events as required.

A valid Oklahoma Journeyman’s License or Unlimited Contractor License is a compliance requirement. College degree preferred. Teaching experience is a plus.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:As a professional in the Plumbing industry you will use your career experience to educate students for entry-level employment as an Plumber, with the focus on installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in accordance with industry safety standards. The Program combines theory with practical hands-on training designed to simulate the actual work environment and skills needed to excel in this field. Instruction will combine classroom and hands-on lab training. Instructors are responsible for sound educational practices and the academic development of each student. Instructors will manage the classroom and lab environment and promote a positive and engaging learning experience. The Plumbing Instructor must possess highly developed interpersonal skills, good time management and organizational skills, have energy, creativity and show initiative.
