Job summary

The Worcester City Ofc-Water is seeking a Plumbing and Gasfitting Inspector to join the Building and Zoning Division. You will inspect plumbing installations, enforce municipal and state codes, and issue permits as required. Strong judgment and technical discretion are essential.

Candidates must meet the minimum license and experience requirements, including Massachusetts journeyman/master plumber credentials and five years of practical practice. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of plumbing concepts and safety practices.
• Familiar with local and state plumbing codes.
• Ability to read plans, blueprints and schedules.
• Experience inspecting plumbing and water systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new and existing plumbing and gas installations for code compliance.
• Review permits and advise on plumbing problems with stakeholders.
• Issue permits for installation, repair and connection to sewers.
• Investigate code violations and hazardous conditions.
• Enforce regulations and testify in relevant proceedings.
• Prepare inspection reports and recommendations for actions.
