Job summary

M & E Engineering Inc in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Mechanical/Fire Protection Engineer with 2–5 years of plumbing and/or fire protection design experience to contribute to building projects.

You will perform designs, sizing and calculations, review drawings, coordinate with architects and engineers, participate in design meetings, and ensure QA/QC compliance on site and in documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience with system modeling and hydraulic calculations; BIM (Revit) preferred.
• Familiarity with NFPA standards, building codes, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plumbing and fire protection system designs, including layouts, calculations, and specifications.
• Review architectural and structural drawings to coordinate system routing, equipment spacing, and penetrations.
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and other project consultants.
• Participate in design meetings and clearly communicate technical requirements.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with design intent.
• Respond to contractor RFIs and provide clarifications during construction.

Travel

The expected base salary range for this role is $72,500 – $87,360 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
