Job summary

IES Residential Inc. seeks a Plumbing Field Instructor to deliver classroom and hands-on plumbing instruction for employees in training and workforce development programs.

You will teach plumbing fundamentals, installation methods, safety procedures, and code requirements, while developing lesson plans and evaluating trainee performance to support career advancement within the company.

Qualifications

• Coordinate with operations leadership and field personnel to align training objectives with workforce and operational needs.
• Monitor attendance, training progress, certifications, and program completion records accurately and timely.
• Support curriculum improvements, training initiatives, and continuous development of company education programs.
• Promote professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and positive learning environments.

Position Overview

The Plumbing Field Instructor is responsible for delivering classroom and hands‑on plumbing instruction to employees participating in company training and workforce development programs. This role supports technical skill development, licensing preparation, safety training, and career advancement while ensuring training programs align with company standards, operational objectives, and applicable plumbing codes and regulations. This role provides hands‑on instruction and training in electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC systems.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Work performed in classroom, laboratory, shop, and training environments.
• Use, audiovisual equipment, plumbing tools, and instructional materials.
• Travel as required to support project and operational needs.
• Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.
• Stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Sit for extended periods while driving to and between job sites.
• Work on active job sites, indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, and confined or elevated spaces, with exposure to varying weather, construction noise, dust, and other job site conditions.
• Wear safety gear such as Personal Protective Equipment.
• Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet customer service and operational needs.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures.
• Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including on a tablet, smartphone, and other office technology.
• Perform all work on‑site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
