Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a qualified plumber to plan, organize, supervise, and complete installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems across state institutions and facilities. The role covers installation, operation, and maintenance of plumbing and sewage disposal systems, with attention to materials selection and requisition review.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and five years of trades experience related to plumbing.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and five (5) years of trades experience directly related to the area of employment.
• Must be able to repair/replace underground piping, chill water, hot water heating and water mains including ductile, carbon steel, PVC & C900 piping.
• Ability to pipe weld and fit pipe.
• Knowledge of general construction plumbing including roughing, setting fixtures and minor plumbing repairs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate work to install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems at state facilities.
• Assist with the installation, operation & maintenance of plumbing & sewage disposal systems.
• Review & approve requisitions & prepare specifications for materials and/or replacement as needed.
• Repair/replace underground piping, chill water, hot water heating and water mains; pipe weld & fit pipe.
• Know general construction plumbing including roughing, setting fixtures & minor repairs.
