Job summary

Medxcel in Nashville, TN seeks a Facilities Technician to maintain the hospital’s water supply, wastewater and related piping networks, ensuring reliability and safety. The role requires hands-on maintenance, adherence to safety standards and coordination with other trades to meet building codes.

You'll perform preventive maintenance, respond to after-hours issues, and participate in trainings and projects to support facility operations at St. Thomas West Hospital.

Qualifications

• License: relevant license required or preferred.
• Graduate of trade school with 3 years’ experience or equivalent.
• 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, and maintains water supply, wastewater, and medical gas piping networks.
• Serves water pumps, heating systems, and water filtration equipment with safety adherence.
• Performs preventive maintenance and tests fire protection systems as needed.
• Responds to after-hours emergencies and resolves safety hazards.
• Coordinates with other trades and participates in trainings and projects.
• Acts as Subject Matter Expert for facilities stakeholders.

Responsibilities

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Installs, repairs, and maintains the facility's water supply, wastewater, sewage, storm drainage, and medical gas piping networks.
• Services domestic water pumps, steam stations, heating and condensation systems, and water filtration equipment, while managing backflow and cross-connection prevention.
• Conducts preventive maintenance, adheres to standard safety precautions using PPE, and tests critical fire protection systems including valves, pumps, and deluge systems.
• Diagnoses system failures to determine repair or replacement needs and responds to after-hours emergency situations to resolve immediate safety hazards.
• Coordinates with other trades, informs personnel of work order statuses to comply with building codes, and participates in meetings, training, and special projects.
• Leads training and department orientation and serves as Subject Matter Expert for facilities stakeholders.
